Then the sketch. I work with a mechanical
pencil on 100 lb bristol. I didn't do as tight a job on the background
because I was planning to paint it in Photoshop or on illustration
board and scan it.
Concept-wise, I threw in some subtle story-telling. My methods
come from that How to Create a Comic Book video with Todd
McFarlane and Rob Liefeld, where McFarlane talks about drawing a
car going over a cliff. Long story short, you can accomplish a lot
of story in ONE panel. I always try to use setting, posture and countenance
rather than supplementary panels and word balloons; which makes sense,
I'm drawing pinups. |
